First Visit

According to the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry establishing a “dental home” for your child is the first step toward a lifetime of good dental health. We have embraced this approach at Sprout and we offer these guidelines to help you create your child’s “dental home.”

DENTAL HEALTH DOESN’T NEED TO BE SCARY OR DIFFICULT.
WE BELIEVE THAT A COMBINATION OF EARLY EDUCATION
AND GOOD HABITS ARE THE KEY TO A HAPPY, HEALTHY MOUTH.

Early dental visits are the foundation for a lifetime of good oral health. We encourage you to schedule a “well baby” visit around your child’s first birthday. But whatever your child’s age, allow some extra time before your first appointment for filling out a dental history questionnaire that will help us give your child a great first visit.

At this visit we will get to know your child and complete a full dental examination. You’ll leave with a thorough understanding of your child’s dental health as well as a complete home program for your child, with information about flossing, brushing, fluoride, diet and information about what to expect over the next 6 to 12 months.

By all means let us know if you have any special concerns about your child, such as:

  • Do you anticipate any behavioral issues that might present a challenge during the appointment? Please talk to us and together we can work on a positive approach.
  • Some young children have an easier time with morning appointments when their energy is higher. If you think this might be true of your child, just let us know when you’re scheduling your appointment.
